European Transport Conference, Strasbourg, France, 4 - 6 October 2004

ECTRI was present through a booth at the European Transport Conference held in Strasbourg, France, from 4 to 6 October 2004. The Conference started with a welcome address and introduction by the Association for European Transport and was followed by meetings of AET committees. More than 240 papers were presented, selected by the 11 Programme Committees from over 450 abstracts submitted on the following themes: "Optimism Bias in Road construction", "Planning for sustainability", "The value of time", "Innovative approaches to traffic management in cities", "London congestion charging : latest developments", "Transport and tourism", "Education and training in transport", "Trans European roads and Rail networks". The participants could choose between at least 10 seminars every day. An exhibition took place in the conference hall during the three days. ETC hosted participants from 27 countries; some ECTRI members were represented by their managers, senior and junior researchers.

World Congress on Transport Research, Istanbul, Turkey,
4 - 6 July 2004

ECTRI was present through a booth at the 10th World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR) held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 4 to 8 July 2004. The Conference was shared between a Plenary Session introducing it, a Seminar organised by the French Ministry of Transport, 4 Semi-Plenary Sessions with panels and parallel sessions (around 240) related to the 8 following session tracks: "Transport Modes", "Transport Systems", "Planning, Operation, Management and Control", "Transport modelling", "Assessment Appraisal and Scenarios", "Spatial and Environmental Economics and Engineering", "Transport in Developing Countries", "Transport Policy, (De-) Regulation, Subvention and/or Investment". The Conference hosted around 600 participants; most ECTRI members were represented by their managers, senior and junior researchers to chair sessions or give oral presentations.

ITS04

ITS Europe, Budapest, Hungary, 24 - 26 May 2004

The Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) Europe Congress was organised from 24 to 26 May in Budapest, Hungary. Here again, ECTRI was present through a booth.

Most contacts were more specifically made with industries and universities on this occasion.

 

   
 

EuroIndia, New Dehli, India, 24 - 26 March 2004

The EuroIndia Conference was held in New Dehli from 24 to 26 March, under the initiative of the European Commission. ECTRI was present at this Conference through a booth presenting our members, our activities and also the Network of Excellence HUMANIST. Our President, Professor Georgios Giannopoulos was not able to chair the Parallel Session "A7" on Transport and Civil Risk and was replaced by Dr Angelos Bekiaris from HIT. Commissionner Liikanen was in Dehli and visited the exhibition on Thursday 25 March. Most of the people who visited the exhibition were from the Indian Software Industry and some researchers were also interested in what was being done in Europe
